In 2017, I moved from New York City to Karachi, Pakistan, and worked as a stringer covering the country for The New York Times. I wrote dozens of articles during my time there, like this one about how ride-hailing platforms are changing Pakistani women’s lives, or this one about a string of mysterious arsons in a remote mountain town, or this one about a police chief who killed an influencer. You can find all of my Times reporting here.

I was the South Asia and Middle East Editor for Rest of World during the site’s first year of publication. I oversaw a pool of staff and freelance reporters from around the world, and commissioned and edited feature articles like this one about the future of a language, this one about right-wing trolls in India, and this one about surveillance technology in Israel. You can read some of my contributions to the site here.

I was an Associate Editor at The California Sunday Magazine from 2019 to 2020. During my time there, I commissioned and edited magazine packages, and did some reporting too.
